Paint brands fell into two distinct groups – high performers and the rest. In that top group, you can count on buying paint that goes on easily, is durable and performs up to your expectations. The factor that can set apart the best performers from others, when product and price are basically comparable, is how well they work with customers to help them understand how to get the most out of their paint. Since 88 percent of the study’s respondents report that they apply interior paint themselves or with help from family and friends, proper education about paint selection, equipment, surface preparation and application technique greatly enhances the customer’s experience with the paint. When you’re in do it yourself mode, having clear and helpful design guides and instructions can tip the balance towards satisfaction.
